Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons ginger, minced

¼ cup soy sauce (low sodium)

3 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

½ cup beef broth

1 tablespoon brown sugar

Salt and pepper, to taste

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Toasted sesame seeds and green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Mix until the beef is well-coated. Allow it to marinate for at least 15 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.

Prepare the Stir-Fry Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Set aside.

Cook the Broccoli: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and red bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender but still crisp. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Sauté Garlic and Ginger: In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed, and sauté the minced garlic and ginger until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

Cook the Beef: Push the garlic and ginger to the side of the pan and add the marinated beef in a single layer. Let it sear for 2 minutes without stirring. Then, stir-fry everything together for another 3-4 minutes until the beef is cooked through.

Combine and Finish: Pour in the prepared stir-fry sauce and add the cooked broccoli and bell pepper back to the pan. Stir well to coat everything in the sauce and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly.

Serve: Serve the beef and broccoli over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added flavor.
