Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

1 ½ cups warm water (110°F)

2 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon salt

6 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley)

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

      - In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.

        - Mix until the dough comes together, then knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

          Let the Dough Rise:

            - Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

              Shape the Garlic Knots:

                - Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

                  - Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces.

                    - Roll each piece into a rope about 8 inches long. Tie a knot with each rope, tucking the end underneath the knot. Place the knots on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

                      Prepare the Garlic Butter:

                        - In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, garlic powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir until fragrant (about 2-3 minutes). Remove from heat.

                          Bake the Knots:

                            - Brush the knots generously with the garlic butter mixture, reserving some for later.

                              - Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

                                Final Touch:

                                  - Remove the knots from the oven and immediately brush them with the remaining garlic butter. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

                                    Serve:

                                      - Serve warm with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
