Ingredients

1 package (15.25 oz) Oreo cookies (regular or Double Stuf)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 cups cool whip topping (or similar whipped topping)

1 1/2 cups milk

1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix

1 gummy worm or candy decoration (optional for garnish)

1 cup chocolate sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

Prep the Oreos: Start by crushing the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs. You can place the cookies in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin or use a food processor for a finer consistency. Reserve about 1 cup of the crumbs for topping later.

Make the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and softened butter. Beat together until smooth and creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.

Fold in Whipped Topping: Gently fold in the cool whip topping into the cream cheese mixture until well incorporated and fluffy.

Prepare Pudding Layer: In another bowl, whisk together the milk and instant chocolate pudding mix until it thickens (about 2 minutes). Let it sit for another 5 minutes to fully stabilize.

Layer the Cake: In a large serving bowl or a trifle dish, start layering with 1/2 of the crushed Oreo cookies at the bottom. Then, add half of the cream cheese mixture on top, followed by half of the chocolate pudding layer. Repeat by adding the remaining crushed Oreos, cream cheese mixture, and finally the chocolate pudding.

Final Touches: Once assembled, spread the reserved Oreo crumbs over the top layer of chocolate pudding. If desired, sprinkle chocolate sprinkles for extra decoration.

Chill: Cover the dessert with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or, preferably, overnight. This will allow the flavors to meld and the cake to set properly.

Serve: Just before serving, garnish with gummy worms or other edible decorations for a fun dirt effect!
